The Museum of Bags and Purses is home to the world's largest collection of handbags and a joy for any handbag devotee to stop off at when in Amsterdam.

Its collection highlights the bag in all its variety of forms, functions and materials, while also emphasizing the story that each piece has to tell in terms of style and fashion and the effects that it has had upon developments in society.

Located in a 1664 canal house in the center of Amsterdam, its rooms are done up in 17th and 18th centuries period fixtures including painted ceilings and mantelpieces. Visitors can unwind in a courtyard garden or have a cup of java in the museum café.
