Annie Leibovitz is known as the photographer who adds a bit of character to her celebrity subjects. She has photographed some of the most recognized names, including that of a pregnant and naked Demi Moore on the cover of Vanity Fair and the tub filled with milk that Whoopi Goldberg was draped in.

The Leibovitz collective works have included Nicole Kidman, The Beckhams, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Mick Jagger, Bill Clinton and just about anyone in the public eye. Her portraits have appeared in every major magazine and newspaper.

Annie Leibovitz has departed away from portrait photography.  In November 2011, she released a book titled ‘Pilgrimage,’ with the end result of this experimentation of objects that meant something to her. Her endeavor with this successful selling book focused on images of historic Americana.

Even though the book was released several months ago, the actual works that are featured in it are on tour. These photographs have just completed a five month run at the Smithsonian in DC. The photographs included among many historical personal effects,  the site of Thoreau’s cabin at Walden Pond, Sigmund Freud's patient's couch and Abraham Lincoln's top hat.

The photographs on tour are now making an appearance through September 2012 at the Concord Museum in Concord, Ma. It will then stop off at smaller venues all across the country until June 2013. They then will be on exhibit at the San Jose Museum of Art in San Jose, California until September 2013.
