Be a Dior Star this Summer with a Dior Marine Denim Bag
Movies and designers go hand on hand together like "yin and yang.” A retrospective of that merger is on showing at the Christian Dior Museum until September 23rd in the designer's childhood home in Normandy, France. He first designed costumes for ballet and film before he developed his own couture house in Paris.
The exhibit simply called "Stars in Dior” is both Dior and the stars of the silver screen that worn what is featured at the exhibit. This rarely seen collection consists of over six decades of Dior gowns, worn by Hollywood’s finest both on and off the screen.
His following from the silver screen included the late Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly and other notables.
One section in the exhibit is dedicated to Dior’s devotee, Marlene Dietrich. 10 Dietrich ensembles on display highlights how avant-garde and daring she was and a true trendsetter for women’s fashion. As his client since 1947, and reportedly refused movie roles unless her costumes were designed by Dior. She bluntly told studio heads, 'No Dior, No Dietrich.'
The multimedia exhibit not only appeals to fashion lovers but old movie buffs. There are plenty of clips and posters, including an insider’s view of the perfume TV ad campaign with Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron for "J'adore Dior."
