Debbie Reynolds of the "Singin' in the Rain" and "The Unsinkable Molly Brown,” fame has been a collector of Hollywood memorabilia for eons. In June, iconic movie wardrobes worn by Barbara Streisand, Judy Garland and many more will be for auction at Beverly Hills, California auction house Profiles in History on June 18.
Miss Reynolds acquired most of the treasured costumes during a fire sale at the studio she was affiliated with and the giant of movie musicals, MGM. In 1970, the Hollywood movie studio announced it was going to auction off everything except its real estate. Debbie Reynolds’s was right upfront of the auction block. Her collection was originally to be housed in a museum but the project fell through.
Not all of the 3500 treasures for auction have been revealed as of yet but it is noted that the ruby red slippers from "The Wizard of Oz," Monroe's dress standing on the subway grading from "The Seven Year Itch," and Barbra Streisand's sleeveless gold velvet, jeweled gown from "Hello, Dolly" are just a few that are available. Even the stunning Ascot dress Audrey Hepburn don in "My Fair Lady" will sold under the auctioneer´s final gravel.
Another event in California is taking place beginning on June 2 until August 13th. The Andrew Weiss Gallery in honor of what would have been Marilyn Monroe´s 85th birthday is having a major exhibition of rare and never-before-seen original photographs of the legendary star mainly taken by George Barris. The exhibition appropriately named “Happy Birthday Marilyn", will include photographs from many other photographers too.
Now Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn may differ in so many ways but both will forever remain unforgettable. The one similarity that stands out is that each incorporated their unique style by owning a Chanel Handbag.
Ideal for the season is an authentic Chanel Quilted Jumbo Classic Bag in white with gold hardware. The white Chanel jumbo flap is the ying to the yang of the classic black version.
As iconic as ever, the quilted and soft as butter lambskin leather features the elegant, adjustable-length chain strap intertwined in leather and gold links. The stunning double C turn-lock closure opens the front flap and there is an open patch pocket on its back exterior.
The pre-own Chanel jumbo contains the roominess a diva requires as this used Chanel takes her from day into night. There are two inner pockets to hold pens, a cell or lip gloss stick.
The authentic Chanel Quilted Jumbo Classic Bag will be memorable and remain an eternal classic as well as some of Hollywood´s long time gone finest.
